Letting your moderators ban?

Hey, I am wondering what your thoughts are on letting your moderators hold their own ban hammers?
How do you think they would effect the community, and would it help or not?

I personally think that Global Moderators should have banning rights only because Section Moderators should stay within their own section when it comes to staff duties.

I think that if we could set who can ban then it would have been better but as it is FM dont have that tool as of yet but maybe soon thou. but i think if you trust your staff to help then you should have banning rights YES

FM has the ban tool. I am able to ban.

I would only trust this power to someone I know can use it wisely; however, my preference would be that they notify me and I would do the banning, simply because at this point my forum is not big enough to require other staff.

I agree with you Sagest, but it really depends on the genre and the activity of the forum. A member which has 1000+ members and 200+ messages daily can't have only Global Moderators. So, I would say that Moderators should have permissions to ban someone from a forum which has not big activity.

I think it would kind of depend on certain things. On my forum, you can make it so that moderators can ban a member, otherwise, it is left up to the administrators to do the banning. I think it would have to depend on the maturity of your moderator but your moderator would have to have some level of maturity to be a moderator in the first place (at least I would think so). It would have to be something I'd have to seriously consider first.
