Site Closed

I have been in many forums which had been closed because of many reasons. Have you ever owned a site which is closed now? How do you feel when you are obliged to close a site?
Personally, I have never closed a site because I think that we should try to make our website popular with topics with quality. Also, I would definitely disappoint my members, if I wanted to close it. It is a very tough decision.

You're right, but in some cases, it is absolutely necessary to shut the site down. Here are some reasons why:

You become unable to manage the forum due to a stricter schedule.
Your forums host is probably going to go out of business.
You decide you have no further interest in administrating the forum.

I have closed a couple of forums, mainly because I could not afford to support them any further as I prefer to use custom hosted forums rather than a free network.

I have unfortunately close a forum or two due to lack of activity/interest from members and a subsequent lack of motivation to keep it running. Those are the only reasons, though.

I browsed quite a few forums where all the people left, but the lights were still on. It's like visiting a ghost town...
